Beginner’s Guide to Setting Up an Exodus Wallet

What is Exodus Wallet?

Exodus is a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet, which means you have full control over your crypto—not a third party like an exchange. It supports many different cryptocurrencies, has a user-friendly interface, and is available on desktop and mobile.


Step 1: Download Exodus Wallet

2. Click “Download” and choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

3. Install the file just like any other software.

For Mobile (Android & iOS):

1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).

2. Search for “Exodus Wallet” and download the official app.

3. Install and open the app.

⚠ Important: Never download Exodus from unofficial sources to avoid scams!


Step 2: Create a New Wallet

1. Open Exodus after installation.

2. Click “Get Started” (on desktop) or “Create Wallet” (on mobile).

3. Your wallet is now created! You don’t need to sign up or provide personal information.

🚨 Remember: Exodus does not store your private keys or recovery phrase. It’s your responsibility to back them up!


Step 3: Backup Your Wallet (VERY IMPORTANT!)

Since Exodus is a self-custodial wallet, if you lose access to your device, you’ll need a 12-word secret recovery phrase to recover your wallet.

How to Find & Backup Your Recovery Phrase

1. Go to Settings (gear icon in the wallet).

2. Click “Backup” and follow the steps.

3. Exodus will show you 12 words—write them down on paper (never store them online).

4. Store this paper somewhere safe—if you lose it, you’ll lose access to your crypto forever.

🚨 Never share your recovery phrase! Scammers may ask for it—don’t fall for it!


Step 4: Secure Your Wallet

Set a Strong Password

1. In Settings, go to Security and set a strong password.

2. This password protects your wallet on your device.

Enable Biometric Login (For Mobile Users)

• If using a phone, you can enable Face ID or Fingerprint login for extra security.


Step 5: Receive Crypto in Your Exodus Wallet

Now that your wallet is set up, you can receive cryptocurrency!

To Receive Crypto:

1. Open Exodus and select a cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).

2. Click “Receive” to see your wallet address (a long string of letters and numbers).

3. Copy this address and share it with the sender.

4. Once the transaction is complete, your crypto will appear in your wallet!

✅ Tip: If you’re transferring from an exchange, always send a small amount first to test before sending larger amounts.


Step 6: Send Crypto from Your Wallet

To Send Crypto:

1. Select the cryptocurrency you want to send.

2. Click “Send” and enter the recipient’s address.

3. Choose the amount and double-check the details.

4. Click “Send”—done!

⚠ Important: Transactions are irreversible. Always double-check the recipient’s address before sending!


Step 7: Explore Features (Optional)

Exodus also offers:

• Built-in exchange (swap crypto without using an external exchange).

• Portfolio tracking (see your balance and value in real-time).

• Staking (earn rewards by holding certain cryptocurrencies).
